I create ceramic sculpture.
My sculpture strives to evoke mystery and ambiguity using biomorphic forms that straddle the boundaries between the human, the animal, and the imagined. My intent is to connect the world of the subconscious with the world of our perceptions of everyday reality. I draw upon my archive of experience, memory, and the imaginary to create my work.
My current work explores relationships between abstract forms within narrative compositions. I invite viewers to enter these environments and discover something within themselves—perhaps a feeling not often acknowledged—or an experience long forgotten. By suggesting a presence beyond our everyday world—and probing the private world within each of us—I strive to communicate feelings of both innocence and unease.
